Edith Cowan University หรือ ECU เป็นหนึ่งในมหาวิทยาลัยที่ใหญ่ที่สุดของประเทศออสเตรเลีย โดยมีนักศึกษามากกว่า 20,000 คนที่กำลังศึกษาอยู่ในหลักสูตรต่างๆกว่า 330 หลักสูตรทั้งใน ระดับปริญญาตรี และสูงกว่าปริญญาตรี ซึ่งในจำนวนนี้เป็นนักศึกษาต่างชาติกว่า 2,000 คนซึ่งมา จาก 70 ประเทศทั่วโลก

ECU ได้ขึ้นทะเบียนกับ RATE (The Register of Australian Tertiary Education) ซึ่งทำให้แน่ใจ ได้ว่าหลักสูตรต่างๆ ของ ECU เป็นที่ยอมรับทั้งในและต่างประเทศ นอกจากนี้ในฐานะสมาชิกของ the Australian Vice-Chancellor's Committee และ ACU (Association of Commonwealth Universities) ทำให้คุณวุฒิการศึกษาจาก ECU เป็นที่ยอมรับทั้งจากมหาวิทยาลัยในออสเตรเลียเอง และมหาวิทยาลัยที่เป็น สมาชิก Commonwealth จากประเทศอื่นๆ เช่น อังกฤษ แคนาดา นิวซีแลนด์ สิงคโปร์ และมาเลเซีย
